About the Such and the Sew
Established in 2023 by a mom, a daughter, and a lot of creative chaos (the good kind—at least we’d like to think so). One of us sews, the other throws clay, and together we turn fabric and ceramics into something special—and pretty shhnazzy.
The idea for Such-n-Sew Studio really ignited back in March of 2020 at the start of COVID. When masks were recommended, Christine decided to sew her own. One YouTube video quickly turned into many, and she was hooked. Before long, she was drawn to making bags—and anyone who received one insisted she should be selling them.
In 2021, Heather began taking visual communication and advertising classes online through SCAD. Around the same time, Christine started entertaining the idea of selling her bags and wondered if Heather might want to help with advertising and online sales. (Heather’s response: Duh, of course!)
In 2022, Heather returned to taking ceramic classes, and Christine joined her for one. Watching Heather fully immersed—hands in clay, completely in her element—sparked a new dream: what if we worked together, creating things we were both passionate about?
In 2023, that dream became reality when we opened our Etsy shop. On September 23, 2023, we did our very first in-person market, Art in the Yard at Carolina Beach—and instantly felt at home working side by side, sharing our handmade creations with people who truly appreciate them.
Today, everything we make is completely handmade, full of personality, and truly one of a kind—just like the people who love them. We mix skills, share ideas, and work together to create pieces meant to be used, loved, and kept for a lifetime.
From our family to yours, thank you for supporting Such-n-Sew Studio.
The 'such' / daughter
Heather
I'm the ‘Such’ in Such-n-Sew aka the daughter, who makes all the ceramic pieces in my garage.
I've always loved art but have never been great at drawing the ideas in my head out on paper. Then I discovered ceramics in high school and fell in love with the process of making my ideas come to life physically and functionally.

A curiosity evolved into a passion.
I was curious as a child watching my Mom sew. I graduated from Michigan State University with a clothing and textiles degree. Next: life, kids, and work happened.
Then March of 2020 rolled around and that's when I started to attend YouTube University to brush up on my sewing skills to crank out Covid masks.
And that's how my curiosity became a passion...or maybe an obsession...you decide!
